New Music February 2021 : DJ artist with a mask on on a stage with red lights
New Music February 2021 : Sacrificial by Rezz and PVRIS. @ Rezz & PVRIS

While January was a bit shy musically, February was quite intense. Last month, we still discovered some nice upcoming artists’ new music released in January 2021. February marked the return of artists who were already well established in the music industry. Among the best new music February 2021, Wolf Alice teased their fans with a preview of their next album and Hayley Williams delivered a full 14 songs album!

As the new music releases February 2021 flooded the web, we selected the rough musical diamonds you just can’t miss. You can live-follow the top either with the Spotify playlist below or the videos after each song and album.

New Music February 2021 : Best Songs of February 2021

PVRIS & Rezz : Sacrificial

Sacrificial was the first song I heard in February and it set the tone : groovy, feminine, exciting. PVRIS’ melancholic and soft voice tone fits the haunting lyrics of a forbidden love perfectly. On the other side, the instrumental work of the canadian DJ and producer Rezz gives the song a contradictory, dark and pleasant dynamic.

  • Genres : French Touch, EDM
  • Song Mood : I know it’s bad and that’s precisely why I want to do it
  • Release date : 05/02/2021

Wolf Alice : The Last Man on Earth

Wolf Alice made their eagerly awaited return with a preview of their next album on February 24th. The single is called The Last Man on Earth and it’s a wonder. Fans use their music as the background sounds of important life stages, such as first times, happy times, heartbreaks, growth. The lead singer Ellie Roswell definitely is among the best female indie artists that can’t go unnoticed.

The Last Man on Earth – Wolf Alice (Official Video)

There are plenty of possible interpretations of The Last Man on Earth. I’d say the band encourages everyone to live in their truth and to stop daydreaming but actually move for good things to happen. The song starts very smoothly and gradually engages in a much more frank approach “You’d like a light to shine on you, Let it shine on you”. The next album Blue Weekend is due to June 4th, I hope I’ll meet you in the Spotify starting blocks! If you’re coming it later, here’s the Wolf Alice New Album Review! • Genre : Alternative rock
  • Song Mood : Fight the misery you feel like you’re stuck in

Elio ft. Charli XCX : CHARGER

That feature is big YES! No surprise you’ve never heard of Elio before, she is just starting in the music business. At only 23, she has already produced many singles and EPs from her bedroom in less than a year. She masters pop catchy beats like she’s been doing it all her life, which is pretty impressive. We definitely have to keep an eye (or hear) on Charli’s new protégé.

  • Genre : Indie Pop
  • Song Mood :  let’s go to the brand new trendy place in town to listen to some good emerging artists
  • Release date : 19/02/2021

Ariana Grande : Test Drive

It wasn’t planned, but we can notice a huge pattern already ; women took over the music charts in February and we love that for them! Ariana Grande, who is known to produce music faster than anyone in the industry, released a deluxe version of her previous album Positions. In this deluxe version, we got to hear the pop single Test Drive

Vocally, it’s been a long time now that Ariana has nothing to prove to anyone. She reaches high notes that are out of reach for most humans with disconcerting ease. Lyrically, the car metaphors are all over the song and give it a surprisingly catchy rhythm. To conclude, it’s a bop once again. Well done, Ari!

  • Genre : Pop
  • Song Mood : Drive by night along the coast to clear your thoughts
  • Release date : 19/02/2021

Shura ft. Rosie Lowe : Obsession

Shura never does it like nobody else, right? If you missed it, Obsession didn’t come out on a Friday but on a Wednesday. This time, she teamed up with Rosie Lowe, a British singer songwriter whose name deserves more attention. It’s a soft pop BOP, well produced and written. In the first notes, you almost feel uncomfortable entering the two ladies universes. Yes, the chemistry of this duo works!

  • Genre : Alternative R&B, Synth Pop
  • Song Mood : a swimming pool evening with your favourite person
  • Release date : 17/02/2021

New Music February 2021 : Best Albums of February 2021

SG Lewis : Times

The Throwaway singer came back even stronger this month with a killer album called Times. After his brilliant feat with Clairo, he decided to keep this success recipe, which is to invite artists on his album to make more alive. He dropped features with artists such as the Canadian singer Rhye or the american Nile Rodgers. We started our listening session with Falls, a soaring song fitting for every kind of emotion and finished it with Back to Earth, a disco banger mixed with a pinch of nostalgia.

  • Genre : Synth Pop
  • Song Mood : let’s slow dance with sequins clothes
  • Favorite track : Falls
  • Release date : 19/02/2021
SG Lewis – Chemicals

Pale Waves : Fall to Pieces

If you know the 1975, you must have heard of their recurrent opening act Pale Waves. Well, if you’re not familiar with them, it’s a 4 piece indie pop band from Manchester. Ciara Doran, the lead singer highlights an ever changing vision of love and all kinds of growing pains teenagers have to deal with.

  • Genre : Indie Pop
  • Song Mood : meet up with your indie friends to feel liberated when your parents told you not to
  • Favorite track : Fall to Pieces
  • Release date : 12/02/2021

Hayley Williams : FLOWERS for VASES / descansos

Flowers for Vases is the second album of the solo career of Hayley Williams, previously lead singer of the very known Paramore. It follows her debut album Petals for Armor by close. As artists can’t tour right after the release of their new album, they keep creating. Perks of the lockdown! This new acoustic album is more intimate and personal. Hayley takes us along in her growth and adventure journey. Her vocals are mature and recognizable. Very promising.

  • Genre : Alternative Pop
  • Song Mood : light up a candle and write down your feelings and the challenges you’re facing in a notebook
  • Favorite track : My Limb
  • Release date : 05/02/2021

David Gray : Skellig

Is David Gray the evil twin of Lord Huron? It sounds so! With his new record Skellig, Gray picks us up like flowers with his gentleness and broken voice. The voice harmonies, soft instrumental and thoughtful lyrics are like a wine of 1998 : on point. You can feel the experience of the man behind each song of Skellig, he has been in the music picture for almost 30 years after all.

  • Genre : Pop
  • Song Mood : chilling under the blankets with a good tea when it’s pouring rain outside
  • Favorite track : Laughing Gas
  • Release date : 19/02/2021
